Riverland fires up for field days
THE State's fruit bowl was abuzz last month when the annual Riverland Field Days took place at Barmera. RENEE DE CICCO
caught up with producers, industry figures and suppliers at the region's top horticulture event
Good quality olive oil, rather than fancy packaging, is olive grower Jackie
Knight's priority. Her company, Knightsgrove Olives, has 900 trees at
Renmark, and after having its biggest harvest this year, Jackie is keen to
take a break with Wendy O'Donnell at the field days.
Riverland Almonds general manager of operations Steve Clewer is nuts
about almonds -- and showcases his produce at the event.
Making the trek from Adelaide to Barmera for
the event was All Quads SA sales manager
Gerald Favaro, who had his range of ATVs in tow.
Riverland grower Keryn Gorman and accomplice Nola Campbell treated
visitors to Illangi's range of olive oil, fine wine and gourmet food.
Soil experts Katie Webster, from Compost for Soils, and Russell Williams,
of Peats Soils, had a chat at the event.
