Featuring new and bigger hydraulically-
powered 900-millimetre Power Prop fans,
the new spray system has been specifically
developed for vegetable, fruit tree spraying
and in vineyard operations.
Design engineer Matthew McWilliams
says the system is particularly beneficial for
ground crops, such as strawberries and thick
He described the development of the
900mm Power Prop fan as a major break-
“In the past, and particularly with hydraulical-
ly-operated fans on ducted turbo type sprayers,
it was difficult to get an even spray pressure
across the entire machine,” Mr McWilliams said.
“There always seemed to be a flat spot or
area on uneven coverage.
“With our 900mm Power Prop fans we
have eliminated that problem. Our new fans
produce an even spray across the entire
sprayer with no gaps in the coverage.”
Mr McWilliams said the new Power Prop
row sprayers were available with a variety of
tank sizes from 800 litres to 4000L.
He said the boom-mounted fans could be
set horizontally to suit plants close to the
ground or vertically for spraying tree crops.
“Because each Power Prop fan can produce
up to 24,000 cubic metres of air a minute with
a throw of up to eight metres, if required, we
are achieving phenomenal coverage results.
“Our initial paddock trials also gave us
incredible penetration results because of our
ability to var y the angle of the fans,” Mr
“Our company has been designing and
manufacturing horticulture sprayers for
decades and nothing in the past has even
come close to the results we are getting with
our new 900mm Power Prop spray heads.
“And these top spraying results are being
achieved at working speeds close to double
that which was the norm with past machines.
Mr McWilliams said the 900mm Power Prop
sprayers were achieving similar results when
operated vertically in row crop situations.
“In spraying strawberries, for example, oper-
ators can fine-tune the spray angles to make
the chemical spray bounce off the ground-
covering plastic sheeting in the rows to ensure
an all-round and thorough coverage.
