Gypsum suits soil
GYP-FLO 'Liquid Gypsum' is
Australia`s most applied liquid gypsum that is
applied to fruit and vegetable crops for improved
soil quality, GYP-FLO consistently increases the
calcium levels within the plant and soil with every
application improving crop quality and yields.
GYP-FLO has a particle size of only 5 microns
and is more than 80 per cent available resulting in
quick results in overcoming soil compaction, unlike
bulk gypsum that has a particle size of 1000
microns (1mm) average with a solubility rate of
only 0.24pc. After four years of field trials, studies
confirmed that the finer particles remain more
active in the soil than the coarser particles of bulk
CROP BLOCK is a liquid suspension of technical
grade calcium carbonate that is applied to assist in
the prevention and reduction of sunburn damage to
fresh produce and general crops. CROP BLOCK will
allow sufficient sunlight through to produce normal
photosynthesis and fruit colouring. When applied,
CROP BLOCK forms a white protective film, and
uniform coverage is required during periods of

TAGS For Pots has operated a
wholesale nursery in Victoria for several years, and
over that time has developed a cost-effective
system for labelling its plants, which has now
grown into a Plant Labelling Bureau service for
other growers Australia-wide.
A variety of plant tags and labels are offered
including black-and-white and colour pot tags, tie-
on tags, hang tags and adhesive labels. Tags For
Pots specialises in creating affordable custom tags
and labels in short runs. In addition to creating
custom content, there is a huge range of stock
content covering many species and varieties of
Proprietor Mike Haughton established Tags For
Pots to overcome expensive solutions offered by
other plant labelling companies.
"The two issues I faced which compelled me to
develop my own solution were that not only did
label producers require large minimum order
quantities, but often they did not carry off-the-shelf
content that I needed for the plants that I grew. I
saw that an opportunity existed for someone to
offer nurseries, especially the smaller growers, or
those growers of more-obscure plants, a cost-
effective labelling solution," he said..
Mike saw that for many nurseries, when faced
with the same issues that he was, the only
affordable way to label plants was to handwrite on
blank tags. And that, says Mike, " is not offering
their customers particularly good service,
especially when only the name of the plant is
written, not its specific growing needs".

Termite fast food
A WORLD first for homeowners
is a new 'takeaway for termites'.
It can be fed to them where
you find them and they take it
back to their nest... wherever it is. It's cheap,
simple and safe for humans and pets.
Homeowners can buy it and use it with
confidence. Fully illustrated instructions explain
why it works and how you can treat and kill
termites where you find them. The subterranean
termites that do 95 per cent of the damage in
Australia are a low life form just following their
basic instincts of millions of years. The 'Take-away'
is one part of a 3-part system developed by Ion
Staunton, an ex-trainer of pest technicians and the
author of termite text books, who saw the market
need for homeowners to do their own termite
control and save thousands of dollars.

FOR fast acting, natural,
safe and effective results in
reducing SOIL ACIDITY and/or
SODICITY you need to use the finest materials
Many products are available but only one South
Australian Company is producing the finest, natural
products that will give you the fastest and most
It has been acknowledged by state rural advisory
bodies in SA, Victoria, NSW and WA that it is the
particle size of your lime or gypsum that makes
the difference when you are rectifying soil acidity
Agricola Superfine Natural Lime was used to
buffer the acid water body in the Currency Creek /
Goolwa area, during the height of the acidity issues
of the Lower Murray in June, July and August
2009, because its fine particle size, high
neutralising ability, and freely available calcium
would give a rapid response to the growing acidity
problem the area was facing.
You can rapidly improve your soil pH with
Agricola Superfine Natural Lime, it's the particle
size that really does make the difference.
The same can be said for gypsum, our Ultra Fine
Natural Meningie Gypsum will break up clay soils,
add calcium and sulphur and improve sodic soils
rapidly because of its ultrafine particle size.

Spaders prove worth
IN the past few years, spaders
have attracted the attention of
farmers and soil researchers Australia-wide and
considerable information has been learnt.
There is a lot of interest about spaders in SA,
particularly regarding improving the soil structure
which aids the even distribution and retention of
moisture through the soil profile. Fertility is also
improved by incorporating organic material, clay,
gypsum, fertiliser and trace elements.
"What people are seeing is that spaders speed
up soil improvement, achieving remarkable results
in just one or two years, increasing yields and
boosting moisture retention in the modified soil
profile," said Roger Groocock, importer of Farmax
One trial near Victor Harbor showed a four-fold
increase in biomass production. In private trials,
spading 75-100 millimetres of green material and
then sowing quickly behind has given similar
yields and good weed control with minimal
chemical input. Other advantages include a good
mixing effect promoting a better permanent ground
structure, and improved moisture penetration. The
onion and potato growers with water repellent
soils which have been clayed and mixed with the
Farmax Spader are reporting increased early vigor
and overall reduced irrigation requirements.

Natural Pyrethrum is
registered for use on every
crop grown ... even yours!!!
There's no resistance. Only 1 day withholding period.
Don't risk yourself or your workers, choose Py-Bo.
It works!! Softly, quickly.
Py-Bo Natural Pyrethrum
Order direct for Australia-wide delivery
Natural pyrethrum; isn't it
an expensive insecticide?
It depends how you measure it. In terms of the
cost of labour and fuel, the application process is
the same no matter which insecticide you
choose... and that's a pretty big slice of the total
expense. Then there are the 'hidden' costs of
future health. This is where natural pyrethrum has
some 'hidden' advantages. You and your workers
cannot develop chronic symptoms because
whatever your intake today, it will all be
metabolised by tomorrow. The level of safety
clothing and equipment required is also less than
most other insecticides. You can also re-enter the
crop immediately the droplets have settled... and the
withholding period is only one day. Which means
you can spray it today and it can be on a plate
Now... pick a pest
And ants and earwigs
Dead insects in 5 minutes
One day withholding
Immediate re-entry to crop
No insect resistance
